Official Rules
* Please note: There are new rules/policy changes for 2010:
ParticipationTournaments will be held at the scheduled start date, time and location on this website. Weigh-in time may be affected by sunset times and therefore will be anounced at the ramp prior to take-off. It is the responsibility of the director to announce the weigh-in time prior to take off, however it is the responsibility of the angler to know the weigh-in time. If the angler misses the announcement, they should ask the director prior to take-off or on the water during competetion.
There is a $10 yearly membership fee per angler (not team) to participate. This money is used as follows: 25% Yearly Big Bass pot, 75% Classic fund. 100% of Membership funds are to be paid out in the form of cash or trophies during the classic.
This membership fee is waived for participants 16 years of age or younger. These participants must be accompanied by a chaperone who is 18 years of age or older. Minors fishing with non-related or non-legal guardian partners as chaperones must also have a signed permission slip from a parent or legal guardian expressley permitting the activity.
The entry fee for COTM Weeknight events is 35$ per boat. This includes a 5$ entry for the nightly big bass pot.
There is no boat limit. Commitment to participate will be decided upon by the angler by paying the entry and membership fees. In many cases, events are held at boat ramps with parking for a maximum of 15 trailers. Parking tickets or other infractions because of limited space or creative parking are the responsibility of the angler. Anglers should plan to arrive as early as possible to ensure a parking space.
TeamsTeams are a maximum 2 anglers per boat. Anglers may fish alone or with any partner they wish at any event. This will affect classic eligibility and end of the year points scoring. Please read and thoroughly understand the points and scoring details at the bottom of the page.
Tournament ConductAll state and local fishing regulations must be followed. Sportsmanship and courtesy will be shown by all teams entered towards fellow tournament anglers as well as any local fishermen or property owners. Failure to comply can result in disqualification at the discretion of the Director. Disqualification will include forfeit of entry fees.

Points can be accumulated as follows (per angler):
- Single Event Participation: 10pts
- 1st Place Finish: 10pts
- 2nd Place Finish: 5pts
- 3rd Place Finish: 2pts
- Big Bass: 5pts
- 2nd Big Bass: 2pts
- Year End Big Bass: 10pts
- Year End 2nd Big Bass: 5pts
Furthermore, 1 point per boat will be given based on the number of boats ( Number of Boats - Place = Points) For example with 11 boats, 1st place recieves (11 - 1) = 10 pts, 2nd (11 - 2) = 9pts, 3rd (11 - 3) = 8pts and so on. Zero fish ties and/or last place will be awarded 0 points.
Points are cumulative. For example a last place finish yields 10pts total per angler whereas a 1st place finish will yield 20pts per angler and a 2nd place yields 15pts (not including big bass points).
Yearly Big Bass25% of the Membership Fund will be paid out to the angler with the largest bass of the season. To be eligible, the paid angler must participate in at least 1/4 of the events (3 out of 12). Ties will result in a 50/50 splt of the entire pot.
Year End Classic & EligibilityThe classic will be held on Sunday Oct 3rd, 2010 from safe light until 3pm. The classic entry fee will be 35$. Payouts will include standard entry fee payouts topped with 75% of the membership fund, sponsor donated prices and trophies/awards. The top 30% of each division will be eligible or up to 10 boats per division. Eligible boats must commit to participating by Sept 26th. In the result of less than 10 boats total committed to the classic, remaining spots will be filled from all divisions in order of highest points. Launch order will be determined by point standing.
Points per team are calculated as the sum of:
- Points earned per event by both teammates fishing together
- Points earned per event by a single teammate fishing alone where the 2nd teammate is not present
- Points earned per event by a single teammate fishing with a 1-time substitute* where the 2nd teammate is not present
- Points earned per event by a single teammate with no partner.
There has been some confusion on how the points are awarded to teams. In the past, points have been awarded to each angler and maintained individually throughout the year. Now, points are earned as a team. For example, previously if a boat earned 30pts - each angler got 30pts and that went toward the point tallies at the end of the year. Anglers who fished with different partners, alone, or only at a handful of events were able to accumulate points across any event they fished in. Now, points are no longer given to the angler, they are given to the team. So instead of both anglers getting 30pts, the team gets 30pts. A Team can mean a single angler fishing alone or 2 anglers fishing together. Either way, the points are normalized by the number of events and there is no point disadvantage to fishing alone or with a partner as long as the conditions above are met.
While anglers may fish with anyone they wish, to accumulate points as a team they must fish with the same partner throughout the season. Here is an example:
- Angler X - 3 events, fished alone - earns 100pts (angler Y did not fish in these events).
- Angler X - 1 event, fished alone - earns 20pts (angler Y was in this event).
- Angler X & Angler Y - 3 events, earns 100pts
- Angler Y - 1 event, fished alone - earns 30pts (angler X was in this event)
- Angler Y & Angler Z - 2 events, earns 150pts
Possible point outcomes per team:
- Team Option 1: Angler X (alone) - 120pts
- Team Option 2: Angler X & Angler Y - 200pts
- Team Option 3: Angler Y (alone) - 30pts
- Team Option 4: Angler Y & Angler Z - 180pts
Members X, Y, & Z may choose any of the above options as entry into the classic.
